On the road to Saint-Louis
Driving between Dakar and Saint-Louis we are writing our first blog. We write in English (as good as possible) to make sure that all the partners of the MDG15- project. can follow our adventures in Senegal. The trip to Senegal was smooth.
Leaving in Brussels. A stop in Madrid, beautifull aerport but without a soul.
What did we learn yesterday: Bieze found out that there is a marvellous underground between different terminals in Madrid. Awesome. Jan has eaten the worst french fries ever. Also in Madrid. We all witnessed a nasty quarrel between Senegalese men who want to get on the plane in the qeueing-order and spanish air-hostesses who want to fill the plane the way they liked it. For Hannelore the most remarkable thing was how many times people go to toilet in a plane.
It's clear that the real Senegal-trip still has to begin. By coïncidence Absa, from le partenariat, was in Dakar and came to pick us up at the hotel. A nice surprise. We passed Thies already and are heading now for Saint-Louis.
The first image of Senegal we have correct is on baobabs. Everybody of the group thought you only find baobabs in the middle of nowhere, standing alone with their mighty branches spread to heaven. But no way, you find them wherever you look.
Finally we arrived safe, thanksgiving the good driver, in Saint Louis. Time to stretch the legs, especially for Véronique and Jan in the back of the car. Soon we will meet Latif!
